Sweet Like Honey, a charitable organization serving the Siouxland area, launched in July 2022.  We repurpose fresh flowers from special life events into bouquets that are delivered to individuals in a variety of healthcare & nursing home settings as well as individuals who may spend much of their time alone or who may just need some inspiration. Research shows that fresh flowers boost the emotional state & overall wellbeing of the recipient.  Fresh flowers stimulate our senses...the beautiful colors, the textures, the aroma.

 

Robyn Lieber, organizer and Director, and her volunteers love to be blessed with the opportunity to give the donated flowers a renewed purpose by creating a Twice Blessed Bouquet, which not only extends the beauty & longevity of the flowers but keeps them from being discarded. Each bouquet comes with a handwritten note, a passion of Robyn's. She has seen how a few sentences of encouragement can impact someone's day...health journey...life!  In 2014 she started a card sending ministry, writing notes of hope and encouragement. Her goal was to write one card per day.  Now 8 years later over 7,400 cards have found their way to the mailboxes of family, friends and complete strangers.

 

 Sweet Like Honey's main goal is to enrich lives by sharing unexpected kindness through the gift of flowers and to experience personal connection through our caring words of encouragement.

Robyn didn't realize that she has been preparing for this moment for over 30 years.  As a nurse both in the hospital and assisted living setting, she had seen patients who were for a number of reasons isolated and had few visitors. As a volunteer for the cancer center, she had witnessed how many people were fighting their health challenges alone. And working in the local domestic violence shelter confirmed what she already knew first handedly that people were discouraged & felt like no one really cared about them.  So, when her daughter accidently ran across Second Chance Bouquets serving the Omaha area, Robyn knew the idea needed to become a reality in the Siouxland tristate area!  

Sweet Like Honey's vision is to create a culture of kindness and compassion throughout the Siouxland community, which involves all ages and stages of life.  From donating flowers, vases, time and monetary contributions to weddings, memorial services, special celebrations & parties there is a way for Everyone to be involved!!
